Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Thanks to all our volunteers for generously giving their time and energy!

Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.

VOLUNTEER VACANCIES:

 

Driver Buddy

As a Driver Buddy, you will play a vital role in our foodbank, ensuring that we are meeting the demand for our services, and providing help and support to people in the local community. We need a driver buddy to accompany a driver to help with the heavy lifting of stock.

Foodbank Centre Helper (Packer)

As the welcoming face of the food bank you’ll be sociable, enjoy meeting people and able to offer friendly and caring support to those in crisis. You’ll receive and check food vouchers, prepare food parcels and make refreshments for the people who visit the food bank. You’ll provide a listening ear and support people in accessing other services with compassion and dignity

Fridays 12-3.30pm Unit 7-9 Walnuts Shopping Centre Orpington High Street BR6 0TW.

The number of people needing food banks has increased in recent years and we anticipate this trend to continue especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. As a driver you will play a vital role to our food bank ensuring that we are meeting the demand for our services, providing help and support to people in crisis in the local community.

Warehouse Assistant

Acting as the link between food donations coming in and reaching those in crisis, you’ll support the smooth running of your local food bank. You’ll be part of a team sorting and packing food and additional items in the warehouse. You’ll be organised and have an eye for detail; this includes checking, weighing and recording stock and sorting food by date and type. This is a physical role as you’ll be on your feet a lot and you must be comfortable with some heavy lifting and maintaining a clean and safe warehouse.

Monday Afternoons 12-3pm.
