About

About our foodbank

Here is an introduction to our project.

Our foodbank was founded in 2010 as a collaborative project between local churches and community groups in response to the growing number of individuals and families experiencing food poverty and financial hardship in the local area.  Since opening our doors, we have provided food for nearly 35,000 adults and 25,000 children in Bromley Borough.

With the help of our partners at the Trussell Trust Foodbank Network, we have been able to expand our services throughout the borough, and have four food distribution sites at churches in Orpington, St Mary Cray, Bromley and Penge.

We also operate a stock warehouse in Bromley and hold a unit at The Glades shopping centre where community members can drop off non-perishable food donations and learn more about how our food bank operates.

Our organisation is first and foremost a community-led effort. We work with over 130 active volunteers and rely on the generosity of individuals, churches, schools, local businesses and community groups for the majority of our food stock donations.

Our values are guided by our Christian principles of dignity, compassion, community and justice, and motivate our mission to eliminate the need for food banks in the borough and surrounding areas.

We welcome individuals from all backgrounds to get involved in our mission as we stand in solidarity with our neighbours in crisis and work towards ending the need for food banks once and for all.
